If you are in a place where you suddenly have a bunch of money to invest, you might be overwhelmed with the ideas that come your way. You start thinking of different things you might invest in, things where your money goes to work for you and all of those other dreamy kind of copywriting phrases being pushed at you day after day.

The truth about making money, is that most people totally suck at it. Completely (and I count myself among you heathens) inept, we walk into walls, we fall down again and again. Idiots, but without leashes or tethers to keep us in check – we are of course, free to roam.

So you pause, and you take stock of your own situation, financially. Maybe there are some off-shore things you can look at to make things a little simpler. If you are like most of us though, you are not looking into accounts in foreign lands, not trying to find a way to make a million pounds become a million more.

Nope.

We are here, thinking about investing and using every day terms to describe it all. We look at various isa investments and we decide: yes, or no this is or is not right for me. We don’t make decisions that affect global change – we try to make ends meet in a way where the wife doesn’t yell too much about anything. We try to keep things moving forward, and we pray.

Sometimes, we pray a lot.

We cannot stress enough how these two things, quality of a product and the overall quality of it, can be entirely separate. An excellent example of this is gold. If you looked at gold from the perspective of a blacksmith in the dawn of history, you would find it a terrible mineral. It was far too malleable and it didn’t have enough resistance to be used for any practical purpose. The fact that there were never tools or weapons made of gold isn’t because it was a rare mineral or because it was being used for jewellery – it’s because of its poor quality for this purpose. It was only after it was deemed useless for any practical purpose that someone liked it for its beauty, and even then it was only worth a lot because it was rare.

Nowadays we have similar situations in our own market, using more modern objects. A cellular phone may not be the top quality phone in the market, but it will have a higher price tag because of its design or because it’s a style icon. And something like bridal accessories will fetch higher prices because they’re designed for one very specific purpose and because the people buying them are willing to part with more money than usual.

After you have installed an underfloor heating system in your home, you will find that your heating bill will be less each month. This is because how these systems work. They transfer heat not into the air of the room, but into the objects and furnishings of the room. Furniture and walls hold heat longer and so they help to keep you warm longer.

Compare this to regular forced-air heating systems and you will understand how the heat from one will rise to the ceiling, leaving the room cold. This is a waste of heat because this type of heating is inefficient. This type of heating is not just for newly built homes. It is possible for homeowners of older homes to have this system installed which makes this home improvement a worthwhile project.
Lowering heating bills is just one way to save money in your home. Depending on where you live, this can be a big bonus to add to your current home. With a radiant home heating system, you will be heating you home more efficiently and at the same time saving money. All homeowners can make this change and once done, they will never go back to the old heating system again.

Remember these simple tips to help you save big on your wedding expenses, which will be one of the biggest events in your financial life.

- The location is also a big expense, if you want to fly everyone out to a destination wedding on an island. Instead choose a local place, like a national park, or a friend’s garden, which are low-cost wedding locations. They are also more unique and meaningful.

- Cut back, if not eliminate all together, deserts. After people eat and drink, they often don’t have room for desert anyway.

- Since 12% of your overall wedding budget will account for photo and video documentation of your wedding, you will want to save where you can but not sacrifice the memories you want saved. A creative alternative to an expensive professional is to offer disposable cameras on tables so the guests could take pictures. Collect the cameras and now you have wedding pictures from all the angles possible at no cost.

- Since music alone will account for 8% of your total wedding costs, a smart idea is to hire a DJ instead of a live band to save money.
